EQ IMPACT: Burnout to Brilliance

For nearly three decades, I was a high-performance machine. The corporate world was my stage, and I played my role relentlessly. I thrived on the challenge, the pressure, and the constant pursuit of excellence. It was my identity. I prided myself on my ability to push through challenges and power through exhaustion.

Does this sound like you?

I didn't realize that my body was sending desperate SOS signals.

But 20 years in, specifically in 2015, beneath the polished exterior, a storm was brewing. I ignored the subtle whispers of my body – the heart palpitations, the fatigue that crept in, sleepless nights even though I was exhausted, the hair shedding in clumps, and the 36 lbs weight loss (in 6 weeks) once a badge of accomplishment, became a concerning symptom. I chalked it up to 'stress,' a badge of honor in my world – all were attributed to the pressures of my job.

Then came the diagnosis: Thyroid disease. A stark, undeniable truth that shattered my invincible facade.

The symptoms I'd dismissed as mere inconveniences were red flags, urgent signals my body was sending. I was a wife, a mom of two, and all the other roles we take on - wasn't stress a part of life?

It was a wake-up call, a painful realization that I'd neglected the most essential part of my life – myself.

The journey to recovery was tough! It wasn't just about medication; it was about rewiring my entire being. I learned to listen to my body and honor its needs for rest, nourishment, and movement. Unfortunately, I lost so-called friends and opportunities because no one understood what I was climbing out of to get to some sense of normalcy.

Leaving that specific toxic work environment was a pivotal turning point. Coupled with regular exercise, I began to rebuild my life on a foundation of self-care. It was a journey of rediscovery, learning to listen to my body, and prioritizing my well-being. Leaving that specific work environment was also my launching pad into full time entrepreneurship.

A crucial step in my healing process was maximizing emotional intelligence. I learned to recognize and understand my emotions, challenge negative thought patterns, and build resilience.

Today, I stand as a testament to the power of resilience. I've traded the relentless pursuit of external validation for a deep-rooted sense of self-care. I've learned that success isn't about climbing the highest ladder but about building a foundation of health and happiness.

My story is a testament to recognizing the signs of stress and the courage to prioritize your health and listen to your body.

Life is lifing for everyone!

Reclaiming your life and creating a future filled with vitality and joy is never too late.

My story reminds us that we are not invincible. We cannot ignore the signs our bodies send. It's okay to slow down, prioritize well-being, and redefine success on our own terms. By listening to our bodies and making conscious choices, we can transform stress into strength and burnout into brilliance.

That health scare taught me to manage stress effectively and cultivate a sense of inner peace.

Now, I'm embracing a life of balance. I've traded endless hours of work for meaningful experiences and replaced the pursuit of external validation with inner peace.
